1125 Jahre Geschichte

Der idyllische Ort Winnweiler im Donnersbergkreis blickte 2016 auf 1125 Jahre Geschichte zurück. In einer Urkunde vom 10. Februar 891 wurde Winnweiler erstmals als Winidowilari erwähnt. Ein Teil dieser 1125-jährigen Geschichte wurde anlässlich des Jubiläums ganz besonders gefeiert. Zusammen mit der Interessengemeinschaft Winelandgames veranstaltete die Ortsgemeinde Winnweiler deshalb einen Mittelaltermarkt. Eines der Highlights des Marktes in Winnweiler war die am Samstagabend stattfindende Feuershow von Leben Anno 1482 e.V. sein. Darüber hinaus gab es auch Phänomenales für die Ohren: Die Musiker In Vino Veritas, die extra aus Italien anreisten, verzauberten das Publikum mit ihrer mediterranen Folkmusik des Mittelalters. Die Bands Clan of Skara Brae und Halitus Exprementes gaben ebenfalls altertümliche Töne zum Besten.

 

Facettenreiches Abbild der Vergangenheit

Am Wochenende vom 01. bis 03. Juli verwandelte sich Winnweiler in einen Schauplatz der Vergangenheit. Neben dem abwechslungsreichen Programm mit abenteuerlichen Schaukämpfen tummelten sich überall auf dem Markt mutige Ritter, Gaukler, Handwerker und sogar ein Henker, die das Leben vergangener Jahrhunderte durch ihre Darbietungen auferstehen ließen. Wer seine Kraft und Stärke unter Beweis stellen wollte, tat dies bei dem Germanenhammer, dem altertümlichen Vorgänger von Hau-den-Lukas. Da auch Ritter und Bauern Freunde von deftigen Mahlzeiten sind, war für das leibliche Wohl natürlich bestens gesorgt. Winelandgames-Sprecherin Iris Geyer bestätigte zum Start des Marktes die Teilnahme von über 30 Händlern und 20 Lagergruppen, die für eine authentische altertümliche Atmosphäre sorgten.

1125 years of history

This year the charming community of Winnweiler (Donnersbergkreis) was looking back on 1125 years of history. In a document dating back to the 10^th of February 891 Winnweiler was first mentioned as “Winidowilari”. One part of these 1125 years of history was celebrated with a special event. In cooperation with “Winelandgames”, an interest group from Southern Palatinate, the community of Winnweiler organised a medieval market. One of the highlights of the market was the fire spectacle with “Leben Anno 1482 e.V.” taking place on Saturday evening. Additionally, there was a real treat for all music lovers: The group “In Vino Veritas” traveled all the way from Italy to Winnweiler to perform their famous Mediterranean medieval music. The bands “Clan of Skara Brae” and “Halitus Exprementes” were on stage as well.

 

A vibrant image of the past

On the weekend of the 1^st until the 3^rd of July, Winnweiler was on a journey into the past. On top of the fire show and the musical acts there were exhibition fights and brave knights, jugglers, craftsmen and even a hangman who all strolled around the premises resurrecting the life of the past centuries with their performances. Anyone, who wanted to prove their power and strength, could try out the “Germanenhammer”, the predecessor of the high striker or so called strongman game. It goes without saying that there were medieval delicacies as well, so that no knight or farmer had to feel hungry. Iris Geyer, the spokeswoman of “Winelandgames”, was able to confirm the participation of more than 30 merchants and craftsmen as well as more than 20 medieval groups who put up their camps to show the traditional way of life.
